shortcuts for text

Hi Am wondering if there is a way of having shortcuts for text, mainly for
user names etc, Thanks Tim

If you mean shortcuts to a text file, the answer is yes. You can't create a
shortcut to nothing, there must be some sort of file.

If you're referring to MS Word, use AutoText.

AutoText:
[[A storage location for text or graphics you want to use again such
as a standard contract clause or a long distribution list. Each selection of
text or graphics is recorded as an AutoText entry and is assigned a unique
name.]]

Open Word and hit the F1 key. Look for these entries:
Insert an AutoText entry
Create or change an AutoText entry

There are some utilities that will do this in almost any Windows
application. The common one that comes to mind is "RoboType" from PC
Magazines site. Just type that name in any search engine, such as Google.
