Shortcuts are Duplicting

We are cleaning up a unit we just moved into a dedicated service. Nearly all
programs that are on the system are no longer needed - accounting, word
processing, etc. The unwanted programs were removed thru Add/Remove Programs.
After removing all the unwanted programs, shortcuts to all the removed
programs were on the desktop. As we attempted to delete the shortcuts, they
duplicated instead of deleting. The more we tried to delete the shorts the
more they duplicated. In a short time we have ended up with 1900 shortcuts on
our desktop. We will gladly accept all ideas, comments, and suggestions about
what we are doing wrong and what may get us out od this mess. Thanks, K.

Hmmm, if there is no Data on there you need, I'd just do a format/clean
install.

Thanks NotMe, thats the same thought we had but when we tried My Computer -
C-Right Click - Format it wouldnt format. Perhaps we dont know how to wipe
the disc. We would gladly accept any advice. K.
