Can anyone explain to me how I could create a shortcut that would disconnect

I suppose you could make a batch script with:

ipconfig /release *Con*

but it would depend on what you might have running that might reconnect.

At the moment I right click on the tv animation (next to the clock) and then
click the pop up menu "disconnect from ISP". There is no facility on the
adsl modem.

Just discovered how to do it, For anyone who is interested.....
To disconnect a call via a shortcut, create a shortcut with the following in
the 'Target' field:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\rasdial.exe /disconnect

Then you can assign a shortcut key combination in the 'Shortcut Key' field
to disconnect via a keystroke if you like.

It works!

You never mentioned you were using a dial-up modem, but I suppose now it
makes more sense why you'd have wanted to do this in the first place.

Right Click the network icon on the Tool Tray, and select Disable.

If you are trapped in a Dial Up world, your computer should automatically
disconnect when you close the browser, or whatever the last resource you are
using that requires the Internet.

Why do you want to disconnect?
