Shortcut problem - Help!

Hi People...

A couple of days ago, for some unknown reason, ALL of my desktop shortcuts
have stopped working and get the message that there is 'no file association'
and that I need to go to control panel and folder options. This is also the
case with many of the icons in the control panel, again when double clicked
get the same message.

I know how to associate a file with a program to work, but a shortcut???

Even if I create a new shortcut or copy and paste a shortcut on the desktop
it still doesn't work.

All of the shortcuts in >start >all programs do work!

I have googled around and can't seem to find a solution so I'm hoping some
nice braniac on here can help me.

Many thanks

Try a System Restore rollback.

Use System Restore to Undo Changes if Problems Occur:

System Restore interface can be launched by typing this in Start / Run:

%SystemRoot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
