Please adjust your clock and/or timezone - you are posting from the future.
Your IP indicates you're in China, yet your time zone is set for US Mountain
(perhaps you didn't set your zone correctly when you installed Windows).
Please reset your clock to the correct zone (+0800).

Thank you

In a somewhat related question ... how do I get the "safely remove
hardware" program out of the tray?

TIA

I was using Pacific Time, I use that when I am at home.

To me, it is a mistake that the news server uses my location time settings.
I travel between Canada-China-UK. My timezone/clock settings could be wrong.
Event my biological clock got confused when I get to a new place.

Just another thought, maybe the notebook or motherboard manufactories can
add a simple "atomic clock" module. Which checks the atomic radio signal to
set the clock and timezone. My GSM mobilephone can also get local time from
the mobile network (for free), maybe the "atomic clock" module can just get
the time from the local GSM network. That would be very useful for me.

Just curious, Miss Perspicacia Tick, are you a newsgroup bot or an actual
human?

I notice that when I unplug my USB disk, the Safely Remove Hardware tray
icon will hide away.

You can also try:
right click on taskbar
click properties
check Hide inactive icons
click customize...
change Safely Remove Hardware to Always hide if you like.
