Shortcut keys disappear

In the templates I have created I am using several shourtcut keys for various
styles, and they are working very well. In the meantime, if the document is
filed in DOCS Open or in Share Point, I cannot use the shortcut keys anymore
when formating the text. The styles are still there but lots of new styles
are generated with the original style name followed by "char char char etc."
What happens?

Also it often happens that when a file is sent to other people who are
editing the text and afterwards returned to me for formating, then the
shourtcut keys do not work anymore, and I have to copy the whole text (except
the last hard return) into a new template where I can make the formatting
using the shortcut keys.

Thanks in advance for good explanations.

See this article for information about Char styles:
http://www.windowsdevcenter.com/pub/a/windows/excerpt/wdhks_1/?page=2

The article also includes a macro that can be used to get rid of the Char
styles in a document.

Since I have no experience with DOCS Open and SharePoint, I cannot tell how
the problems you see are related to these products.

I have previously seen a lot of Char styles in documents but I cannot
provoke the creation of Char styles anymore. Therefore, I cannot test the
shortcut problem but I think there is a great chance that the shortcut
problem will vanish if you succeed in getting rid of the Char styles.

Thank you very much Lene. It seems to be an interesting link which I will
investigate further. Also the link to www.thedoctools.com is interesting, I
may return to that later. (I'm also Danish).

So far I cannot see if it solves my problem with the disppearing shortcut
keys but I'll have a look.

Hej Jane,

Tak for tilbagemeldingen.

If the shortcut keys are saved in the document (rather than the template),
then other Word users will be able to use them, but if the document passes
through an application other than Word, they might be lost. If the shortcut
keys are saved in the document template, they will not be available to other
users, but they should still work for you when you get the document back,
provided the same template is attached or reattached.
