short10 sec freeze not able to get on internet

I have short (10 sec) freeze ups. Task Manager shows CPU usage high
It doesn't show any process hogging any CPU. Sometimes my monitor
screen goes black for a few seconds. If I am transferring files between
drives, It will finish while the screen is black.

Also within 1 hour I lose all internet access. It says that I'm still
connected,
but it won't reconnect until I reboot

WinXP Pro
AMD Athlon
1.1o GHz
1.00 GB of Ram
 
Try a spyware scan, microsoft.com/spyware, virus scan yer system, install
all windows updates.
