short date

When I was using Windowes 2000 pro I changed the system
short date setting to display only the year i.e. 2004 by
customizing it to "yyyy" and the long date as I wanted. I
have some programs that reference these settings. I got a
new computer with XP pro and I am unable to customize the
short date " get an invalid character error but I can
change the long daye to display the year only. Any ideas
on how i can change the short date to display the year
only?

Start/Control Panel/Date, time...../change the format of numbers, dates and times.

In the short date customize reginol options it will not
allow the yyyy option but it will allow it in the long
date, I need it in the short date
