can a short cut to the favorites folder of web sites be added to any of the
tool bars?
this was available in office 2000 but I don't see it in 2003.

It shows up once at 4:01 PM EST on 7-Jan-2005 and again (which is this
thread) at 4:11 PM EST (ten minutes later). The first post was answered by
me, Melissa, and Ben Schorr.

If you were to use a real newsreader instead of web interface, you would
find the USENET experience more to your liking. There are several freeware
newsreaders available, including Outlook Express, Forte Agent, and XNews.

Than ks Brian. I use OUTLOOK. I'd guess it has a newsreader if OUTLOOK
express does. The messages I get are pretty well formatted. I just need to
learn to find my way around.

outlook uses the newsreader portion of oe, or you can get one of several 3rd
party addins - http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/news.htm

this server is accessed using msnews.microsoft.com BTW

The issue, however, is that you did not use Outlook Express or any other
newsreader to post your messages. Your message says:

X-Newsreader: Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000

This seems to indicate you used Microsoft's Web interface to the newsgroups
in order to post. Had you used Outlook Express, I would have seen:

X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2900.2527

or something very similar.
