Shift-select many items in textbox?

I'm building a form with a listbox set to multiselect, but you have to click
each line item separately to hightlight. Is there a way to shift-click
multiple adjacent lines?

My listbox will typically have 200 or so items and the user needs to be able
to select groups of 50 or so most of them adjacent, but some not.
Single-clicking each is not practical, nor is a checkbox solution.

Ideas?
