shift key problems

I can't use shift key in w2k. When I press Shift key, it
opens Internet Explorer and automatically enter some
characters when I use MSWord.

Do you possibly have a keyboard that can have keys
programmed to do certain functions?

It's possible someone else may have set something to your
shift key. Or possibly the combination of shift and
whatever other key you are pressing is doing the activity.

It definitely sounds macro-esque
