SHift Key disable (again..)

Hi.

OK. Previous post today. I went ahead and saved my MDB as an MDE.
Instruction was that not even I could make chnages to an MDE file, which is
OK because I maintain a Master COpy in my directory and post the MDE file to
a publicc directory. Yet when I hold down the SHift Key while openeing thre
newly created MDE file, the Objects menu appears and all ofthe tables,
queries, etc are avcibale for to the user. What am I doing wrong here? I'm
trying to avoid code.

NWO,

I posted a correction and a statement that I was mistaken about the mde not
allowing the shift key. You will have to use the code if you want to prevent
users from using the shift key.

Sorry for the confusion, but I really thought the an mde file prevented the
shift key from being used.

You learn something everyday around here. Sometimes I have to learn them
over and over again.

MDEs only lock code-based objects (forms, reports, modules). They do
nothing to protect queries and tables.

The approach for what you want to do involves letting a user enter a
password that allows code to run that causes the "prevent Shift bypass"
property to be deleted. Then the user closes the database and reopens it --
without the Shift key bypass property, the database opens normally and then
the database runs code that recreates the Shift key bypass property. This
means that the database will revert to 'password-protected' status when the
database is closed.
