Shift+Delete thousands of files takes a very long time

Hi,
During my work a I often delete at once thousands of files from a single
folder. When I click Shift+Delete it takes a long while (20sec - 2min) for
Vista to respond and to ask "Are you sure you want to permanently delete
these files...".
Is there a way to delete these files more quickly?

The same happens when I right click when a lot of files are selected, but
there I'm less optimistic about finding a workaround.

btw, in Ubuntu deleting thousands of files takes the same as deleting a
single file. But I like Vista so I work mainly on it :)

Thanks for the quick reply Mark.

Could you elaborate about:
- What is the shadow copy feature good for?
- Why is it relevant in this case?
- How do I turn it off?

Thanks

DON'T... if you like System Restore.

Learn to live with the time issue.

The System Restore and also the Backup features incorporates an ability to
choose the previous version of a file. These are powers the *nix systems
only wish for. It does require time to write the data, however.

Guess what... another Microsoft "feature" that simply doesn't work
with any reliability

That's what I like. Another MS fanboy showing his ignorance. If
something in Vista doesn't work, is pitifully slow, often crashes,
just tell them to live with it. Priceless!

What I really meant was I don't know how to use that feature. For most, it
works with reliability. I think my machine is messed up.
