Suddenly when the shift, ctrl, alt or alt-gr buttons are pressed alone or in
combination there is a pop-up on the screen that displays that these buttons
are being pressed.

How did this suddenly start? Most importantly, how do I disable this? It's
driving me batty.

Someone in another group mentioned that a little popup came on every
time he pressed his Caps Lock key ("Caps Lock On/Off"). He traced it to
an installation of some Bluetooth drivers. Did you recently install a
Bluetooth device? If so, contact the device mftr. for help with their
driver software.

No I didn't. However, I've tracked it down to the Wacom tablet. As soon as I
use the pen (vs. using the mouse) the screentips, keyboardtips, infotips,
whatevertips that were dormant all become active.

Prior to a restart those tips stayed active even when the pens wasn't being
used. They went away with a restart. Now those tips become inactive again as
soon as the pen is moved away from the tablet. ... Hmm, not all the tips
become inactive. the infotips in applications are staying active, but they
didn't just a minute ago.

What's odd is that I can't find any place to turn this either on or off.

Well, it is a driver problem anyway. I'm afraid all I can suggest is
that you contact Wacom for updated drivers and/or a workaround.
