Shell/User is basically all things having to do with the OS. The shell
of an OS is generally considered to be the the user facing pieces of the
OS, which is quite a bit with an OS like Windows. And user is related
in that it is the user experience. so this category covers pretty much
anything within the OS that you see, click or touch.
You'd probably have to ask MS what they really meant by this. ;-) The
shell is anything about the operating system where interaction between
it and the user takes place. I suppose the "user" means you. I tend to
think of it as a generalist category - not strictly security,
networking, program-related (like the Office programs), etc. MS has to
categorize us as something I suppose, although an award in a particular
area isn't necessarily representative of the MVP's area of expertise.
