shell error

Often when I start XP sp2 the screen shows in a pop up message 'Shell Notify
icon fail'. I exit the message and that's it, nothing happens to anything I
am subsequently doing in windows. Can someone please tell me why this
happens. Thanks.

I would start by using the Microsoft Knowledge Base and searching for the
error. Then if that doesn't work ask in a forum dedicated to Windows XP
rather than a forum dedicated to Microsoft Access Databases.

Microsoft's Help system has landed you in the wrong newsgroup: this
one is for the database program Microsoft Access.

Please use the dropdown box (the one that says "Access" by default)
to select a more appropriate newsgroup, such as
microsoft.public.windowsxp or one of its subgroups.
