I recently ran a scan on the computer and on C:\windows\system 32\shell
32.dll it said "changed. Could anyone tell me what this means as it has not
been on previous scans. If it is a problem could you also tell me how to
correct this. I would appreciate any input on this.

Try doing a google search before reaching out to newsgroups. I found your
answer in under 30 seconds using "shell32.dll change" as my search keyword.

You used AVG to scan right? Then you recently installed an update for
Windows.

A note:
shell32.dll is a library which contains Windows Shell API functions, which
are used when opening web pages and files. It also contains most of your
systems Icons.

What does it do?
The Microsoft Windows?user interface (UI) provides users with access to a
wide variety of objects necessary for running applications and managing the
operating system. The most numerous and familiar of these objects are the
folders and files that reside on computer disk drives. There are also a
number of virtual objects that allow the user to do tasks such as sending
files to remote printers or accessing the Recycle Bin. The Shell organizes
these objects into a hierarchical namespace, and provides users and
applications with a consistent and efficient way to access and manage objects.

If there is a problem with your sys32.dll (which is unlikely) you can find a
backup in
C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386. Find the original Shell32.dll and change
the extention to .bak (ie: shell32.dll.bak)
drag the shell32.dll file to C:\Windows\System32\ while HOLDING CNTRL key.

Brandon,

Thank you for your quick reply. Yes, I use AVG and do like the program. Your
reply was very helpful to me. Again, thanks!
