shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm

Hello,

I just did a new install of XP Pro. All settings in the browser are correct
according to my ISP and I can ping several web sites but I cannot get
anypages to display. At the bottom of the browser I get the message
shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm. This is a new install w/sp1 included and I
haven't gotten on line other than being able to ping some IP addresses.
AdAware/Spybot/hijacking/ shows nothing! I've been to Microsofts site to
no avail, tried the Winsock Fix also with no success. I now concerned,
baffled and a bit upset with the lack of response to this problem. I know
I'm not the only one with this error message.

Thank You for Any Help!!

I'm not sure if you have to do this, but have you ran the "New connection
wizard". This may depend on whether you use a cable/ADSL connection or
dialup for your connection to the internet.
I assume you are pinging a www.google.com address and not the IP address of
the webpage, which is 216.239.59.99. If you put the IP address in the
address bar on IE then you should get google, that should determine if it is
a DomainNameServer error.

Thanks Neil,

I did the ping thru the CMD to yahoo's server site. Nothing will go when
entered in IE6 My ISP ran thru all settings and found them to be correct.
I am getting connected to the ISP but IE6 will not display any pages and
gives the error you see in the subject. I have run all spyware to no avail,
tried the winsock repair to no avail. This is a new install with new
software, etc. I at a loss. Any other clues??

Thanks again
