shdoc.lc.dll

Peter

Frustrated about popups loading everytime I opened my
browser. I decided I had to fix the problem to save from
throwing my computer out my third story window. When I
open Internet Explorer, more often then not, a second
window opens and displays a popup. (usually from some
random pornography site) The next time it opened the
page failed to load so I right clicked on the error html
to see the URL properties and to my surprise the source
of the popups were coming from file:\\c:\Windows\System32
specificaly a file named shdoclc.dll. Upon further
investigation I learned that the origional filename for
this fiel was shdocvw.dll and it also is in my System32
dir, but is saved as SHDOCVW.dll. This is where my
expertise ends. I do not know enough about these files to
fix the problem. If anyone can enlighten my situation
and avoid the murder of, an otherwise, "well oiled"
machine, please email me.

Hi Peter,

The popups are using (or rather a-busing) the system files. You need to do
some cleanup:

1) Install and run Adaware from www.lavasoft.de

2) Install and run Spyware Blaster from
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

3) Dump all TIF's and selectively delete unwanted cookies

4) Turn on the native firewall or install a third-party one
