Shawdow appearing on my screen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a shawdow that appears in the right bottom corner of my screen, I can
run my cursor over it without clicking it and it will disappear, what can I
do to fix this problem? Thanks!!
 
Reboot and see if it goes away

If not, check your video drivers, update if necessary

Embarrassing as this is, I almost returned my new Dell 24" monitor because
of the dark shadow along the right side of the screen. I tried changing
background, even eliminating it, to make sure that wasn't the problem. I
figured a backlight strip or something was out. Spent an hour talking to six
people at Dell trying to get a replacement (more difficult, apparently, as
it was purchased alone, rather than with a system).

Anyhow, while on the phone, I did something, forget what, and the shadow
went away. So I investigated further, and found it was the side bar. Boy did
I feel stupid! OTOH, I see no reason for the shadow to be shown for the side
bar. I can kind of see a division to the left side of the side bar showing
where it ends, but just darkening the right side makes no sense to me.
Bottom line is I dragged my gadgets to the main screen, hid the side bar,
and put the gadgets back, so I could have them, without the shadow. ;-)
