Sharing violations

Steve

At my job we are using win2k with novel networking software.

We have are having an odd phenomenon with sharing violations.

If I go into folder "A", edit a file, lets say "mytext.txt", go back
up to the directory level "A" is on, and then try to rename or remove
folder "A" I get told I have a sharing violation.

The only way to kill it is to log off and log back on.

Our network people claim it is a bug with windows2000.

I don't believe this as I have used windows2000 elsewhere AND with
novell.

Does anyone have any idea what might be behind this problem or what
can be done about it?

Thanks in advance

Steve

One thing you might test is disabling the anti-virus software on both client
and sever, and then running through your test scenario. I've seen instances
where the anti-virus will keep a hook into a file and cause the types of
things you describe.
