Sharing trouble with 2k server and XP

I have a 2000 server with active directory, three XP pro machines and one
win98. I've created user accounts and shares on the server. I'm able to log
on and share files with the server and the win98 box, but shares that I've
setup on the XP machines can't be browsed.

Does anybody have clue to what's going on?

Can you be a little more specific? "Can't be browsed" does not
mean all that much.

I open Entire Network; Microsoft Windows Network; Encompass(my domain) and
then I can see the workstations. I then try clicking on Earth(workstation)
that has a share with permissions set to everyone and get the following
error: \\Earth is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this
network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you
have access permissions. There are currently no logon servers available to
service the logon request.

It seems that not only do you have a server (presumably with some
shares defined) but that you also wish to access shared folders on
one of your WinXP workstations. This is a little unusual but it can
be done.

I have never tried this in a domain environment but I suspect that
you must creata a local account/password on the WinXP PC that
agrees with the domain account that you use.

To get more meaningful feedback you should do this:
- Create a share XYZ on PC1.
- Create a local account "ABS" on PC1, with the current domain password for
"ABS".
- Log on to PC2, using "ABS" as a logon account.
- Start a Command Prompt on PC2.
- Type this command:
net use x: \\PC1\xyz

What do you get?
