Sharing The root c:\

I have finally able to access my folders in my Vista from the XP
workstations. That is all but the C:\ root folder. Is this a problem with
Vista Business or should I say another security enhancement (as Microsoft
would say)? I can live without it but is there a way to share the C:\ folder
with a XP workstation on the LAN??

Hi Tony

Have you explicitly shared the C:\ directory? Or are you trying to connect
to the hidden administrative share, C$?

In Vista, the administrative shares such as C$ have indeed been removed, as
a safety precaution.

I believe you should be able to share the root direcory manually (I can, on
my machine). But sharing C:\ probably isn't a great practice, from the
security perspective. Use C:\Users\Public\Documents as the common shared
directory on all machines.
