Sharing Subfolders from Inbox

A few years ago, I was able to share a subfolder in my Inbox, as opposed to
sharing my whole inbox. When i shared the folder, the person i shared it
with would get an alert that a subfolder was shared with them. and then they
could access that subfolder. I dont remember how to do it, and cant figure
it out. Does anyone know?
