Share inbox subfolders without sharing the main inbox?

I am trying to share my inbox subfolder with sharing the root inbox. I have
been told that in-order to share subfolders you have to give reviewer access
to the main inbox. Is there a way of sharing subfolders alone?

It would help if you gave the version of Outlook you are using. However, I
have used the following solution in the past.

Outlook 2003
A possible work around is having the shared folder directly under Personal
folders rather than the Inbox. You would need to give permissions to the
Personal Folder and the shared folder.
