sharing printer on workgroup w/ laptop on domain

hello:

would like to share my home printer w/ my work laptop

My printer is shared via my home network, but when I try to access any
files/printers from my work laptop no go. Is it possible to access a printer
on a workgroup while logging into a domain?

My laptop, desktop+printer all plug into a router.

btw, this is the error message I get when just trying to access my desktop
is:

\\<IP address>\ is not accessible.
There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request.
