Sharing pdf files problem

I have 2 computers running XP SP2 with file sharing. I have a shared folder
containing some pdf files and some html files. For some reason I am unable to
open or even copy the pdf files, but the other files can be opened or copied.
Is there something that has to be enabled to allow access to the pdf files?
