sharing only works one way

I have 2 laptops and 1 pc set up on a wireless network workgroup using a
2Wire Gateway. The 2 laptops can share with each other, the pc can access the
shared files on the laptops, BUT the laptops can't access the pc files. One
laptop is XP pro, and the other laptop and pc are XP Home. All are service
pack 2.
The laptops can ping the pc. The pc can ping the laptops. Just can't access
the pc files from the laptops. The pc can access the internet.
File and print sharing is enabled on all 3 machines. Windows firewall and
3rd party firewalls are disabled.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Phil,

Some third party firewalls can cause problems, even (especially) when disabled.
Check registry setting restrictanonymous too.
Misconfigured / overlooked firewalls:

Registry setting restrictanonymous:

If no help yet, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each
computer, and we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely:

Please let us know if any of these suggestions are of any help. What you learn
may help others in the future, and that's the purpose of these forums.

Couldn't get browstat status to open. Is this ran from the cmd prompt or the
RUN box?
I ck'd the registry for restrictanonymous setting. Here's what the registry
lists:
"restrictanonymous...........REG_DWORD.................0x00000001 (1)"
"restrict anonymoussam....REG_DWORD.................0x00000001 (1)"
I wasn't sure where the "0" setting is located. Should it go were the (1) is?

Thanks for the help.

The value for restrictanonymous is the problem - change that to "0". Don't
change restrictanonymoussam - that is NOT the problem. But do change
restrictanonymous, and reboot.

If changing restrictanonymous doesn't fix everything, let me know and I'll dig
into the ipconfig listings.

FIXED!!!!
Got brave and changed the restrictanonymous values. I had 2 control sets:
CONTROLSET001 and CONTROLSET003. Right clicked modify and changed the value
data to "0" on both.
Pls let me know if I should not have changed 001 and 003 to "0".

Thanks for the help.! You guys are great! I get more help here than any tech
support 1-800 nbr.

Phil,

Well, CONTROLSET001 and CONTROLSET003 are two versions of the local machine
setup, which is generally changed under HKLM\CurrentControlSet. One of the
former maps to CurrentControlSet, the other is a previous version.

Sounds like you got it though. Thanks for verifying my suspicions, which maybe
Microsoft staff will be reading sometime soon.
