Hello,

I am stuck with what I think should be an easy task. I need to share a
folder in a network on a computer with windows 2003 server. This computer has
the role of file sharing only and the permisions of the folder shared are set
to EVERYONE and FULL CONTROL. All I need is that the other computers on the
network are able to access this folder. however when I try to access the
computer, it asks for a username and a password. I do not want to configure
users and permisions, all I need is all the computers to acces this folder.
How can I achieve this?, I also have the file and print sharing service
already installed

Thanks for your help

question: is this a domain or a workgroup configuration? if domain, set the
share permissions to full control, and appropriate ntfs permissions to those
users/groups you require. if workgroup (as I suspect), you need to set up
usernames for all users you wish to access the folder. if you don't want to
get prompted for a password, set the passwords on the server to be the same
as their local workstation password.

This is a regular workgroup, I think there are no passwords in any
workstation, can i do this like in win xp, just share the folder, with no
"security protection"?

if security isn't a concern, it should work if the share and ntfs
permissions are set to full control for the everyone group, and the guest
account is enabled with no password.
