2 computers - Home / Laptop - Both run WinXP Pro

connected via Ethernet connection

Using Easy File Sharing (workgroups)

Signed on as Administrator on both

Same password on both

Logical E drive on Home is shared - a few folders are set to allow network
users to change files

From Laptop I can see everything on Home E drive, and can write & erase to
those folders that are set to allow it.

The problem is that I can no longer get any additional folders to allow
write/erase. I change the setting on Home, but still cannot write/erase
from laptop.

I have now set the whole E drive to allow write/erase - and this DOES work.
I do not want it set up this way though, I want to limit access to only a
few folders.

Haven't found any Windows KB articles that seem to apply.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Scott Kelley

Hi Scott,

What exact problem or error are you experiencing or observing when you "cannot
write/erase from laptop"? Do you setup a share, and get an error, and if so
what is the complete and exact message?

The experience with sharing successfully some, but not other, folders, is a
problem experienced occasionally.
