I work at a school and we just upgraded a lab of
computers to Windows XP. I am still running an NT 4.0
server for my network. I am trying to share a folder off
of one computer to the rest of the computers in the lab
and I am not able to access the folder from more than 10
users at a time. Is there some kind of work around for
this issue? I am running XP Pro on an NTFS Partition.
If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate
it. Thanks.

XP Home = 5 connections at a time
XP Pro = 10 conenctions at a time

If you need to connect to a share by more than 10 computers at a time, then
you need to upgrade to a windows server version. XP isn't designed to be a
server.

coming to think of it, i read about that being a license issue? is this
true?
If thats true then doesnt each version of XP have it's own client license so
under the microsoft licensing terms you can have any number of Xp
connections to one machine?

It is in the eula, but it also is coded into xp. There is a physical limit
in the coding. Only 10 for xp pro. You could try more, but it physically
will not let you.
