I have a home wireless network (using a wireless router).

I would like to share my files with other PCs/laptops connected to the
network via Vista and XP (Pro SP2).

Can anyone explain in simple Englsih how the hell I share a folder in Vista?
There are so many settings that I'm thoroughly confused. I just want to
share the odd music/photo folder etc.

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Bobby,

To start with, click start and type NETWORK SHARING. This will open a dialog
box where you can enable file sharing across the network (use both file and
public folders). Then simply either keep files you want shared in the public
folders, or change sharing permissions on private folders.

Bobby, have you seen this Msft provided link.

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/network/evaluate/vista_fp.mspx\

The key to sharing across machines especially in Vista is to use the Vista included shared folders and a common profile exists on each machine exists or the Guest account is selected in the folder/Vista's File Sharing dialog box(this approach when password protected sharing is disabled is akin to XP's simple file sharing method). The same can be done in other non public folders but they must be setup manually one at a time( the latter sounds like what you wish to do).
