Sharing COM ports.

Does anyone know if you can share a COM port on windows XP? I have a WinXP machine in one room that is connected via a COM port to a device. I would like to be able to telnet dorectly to the device rather than using Remote Desktop to get to the machine and then accessing the COM port. Is this possible?

No--Microsoft has a virtual modem-sharing app in SBS which works quite well,
but it isn't in XP.
