Sharing Building Blocks

Does anyone know how to have a shared Building Blocks file? We have a
department of 12 people who have over 500 autotext entries to share. We
thought a shared building blocks file on a network resource would be the
answer. However, anyone pointed to it receives an error message when anyone
else is in Word, indicating that the first person who opened Word has the
Building Blocks file open - even though it's not physically open.

Have you tried marking it "Read Only"? I do that with my workgroup
templates that are on a shared network drive. I don't have the ability
to test two or more people accessing, but it might work.

Whoever is going to manage all the AutoText entries would Not point to
the network drive, but would instead point to the master template. Then
when changes need to be made, the network copy can be updated ~ and
marked Read Only, again.

Let us know if this works.
Good Luck.

That was it! The last person in it forgot to put it read only again. Sorry
about that! Thanks for the fast response!
