Sharing BCM Database Over VPN

I am trying to share the BCM database file on a XP Pro SP2 Machine (JAKE)
[I have BCM Integrated with Office Accounting Professional 2007] in the
Office with a Windows Media Center PC (using the Banana hack/Tool) [This
machine was also inthe same office on the same LAN {but has been moved to a
different office, different LAN but still configured as a member of it
previous domain].

I log on to both machines with the same domain username and password, Using
the same outlook account and profile.

I use the "Shortcut to Connect to Small Business Server" tool to connect to
the server at the office.

When I use the "Creat or select database..." on the Media Center machine I
get the following message "Cannot access the database server on computer
JAKE. For more information, click Help."

Is there a way to resolve this?

Should outlook be running on both machines to share the database?

Thank you

We have successfully put the shared BDM db on our SBS server that runs SQL
server and then been able to access it from a laptop that is sometimes in the
office on the LAN and sometimes out of the office but connected via the SBS
VPN. This has been seemless and the response time is better than expected.
Your configuration is a bit unusual given that you have SBS. IE. why not use
SBS to host the BCM db since it is a server. However, you configuration
should work. Make sure the BCM db on the xp box has been shared and
configured for the other user to access it. Then when you are connected via
the vpn, make sure that you can "see" the xp box over the vpn. There is a
good posting on the BCM Blog that discusses sharing a BCM db:

Good luck

Thanks Samvnw51,

I am currently try to figure how to move the Database to the SBS Server 2003
Premium Edition. The Database Admin tool request SQL Server 2005. I heard if
I install the Standard SQL Server 2005 it may break some integration
functions, trying to figure out if the requirements for the Database Admin
tool also means SQL Server 2007 Workgroup Edition and how I can upgrade the
SQL 2000 SP4 on the server to Workgroup Edition SP2...
