Sharing and Security

I have 2 machines my desktop machine and my laptop.

They are acting differently as far as sharing and security.

When I right-click my folders on my desktop, I get the following tabs:

General
Sharing
Web Sharing
Customize

But no Security tab.

If I do this on my laptop I get:

General
Security
Customize

On my laptop I can go to the security tab and set up users and permissions
but not on my Desktop which doesn't have this.

Why is that? Both are XP SP2.

Thanks,

Tom

Windows XP what? Home Edition (doubt it on the second), Professional
Edition, Tablet PC Edition, Media Center Edition or x64?

If either is Windows XP Home edition - you have to boot into Safe Mode to
get the security tab.

This is the Professional edition version 2002 and SP2.

So both are Windows XP Professional Edition...

- Is "Simple File Sharing" disabled on both of them?
Tools --> Folder Options --> View

- Are both formatted using NTFS (not FAT32 on one, NTFS on the other)?
My Computer --> Rght-click on the drive --> Select properties

Was either computer upgraded from a previous OS (like Windows 2000)?

That was the problem.

It was set to Simple File Sharing. When I unchecked it the Security tab
showed up.

Thanks,

Tom
