Sharing and security setting won't stick

Hi,
I have my laptop and my computer networked using ethernet.
The laptop runs WinXP Home, the computer Win98SE.
Sharing worked fine for a while, then stopped.
Now, I can right click on a folder in WinXP on the laptop and elect to
share that folder. The folder icon will then change to the shared
folder icon and sharing will be possible during that session.
If I start or restart the machines, the sharing ability and the shared
folder icon has reverted back to the non-sharing mode.
Can someone please advise me on this?
 
Create a new account in windows xp.It could be the error of user account.
