I have a stable LAN consisting of two Windows XP computers that are behind
a router (connected to the Internet). I have bound "Files and Printer
Sharing for Microsoft Networks" and "Client for Microsoft Windows" to
Netbeui and unbound them from TCP/IP. I have enabled Simple File Sharing.
Everything is working ok.

I have installed a Canon ip4200 printer on Computer #1 by first copying the
Canon drivers to the computer and then connecting the printer to a USB port
of the computer. WIndows found the new hardware and installed the printer
with no problems.

I would now like to be able to access the printer from Computer #2 over the
LAN. My question is:
Should I first copy the Canon drivers to Computer #2 or will Computer #2
automatically get a copy of the drivers from Computer #1? I would very much
appreciate step by step instructions.
thanks in advance......ralph

Ralph,

You may do well to read the Canon User Guide, about accessing an installed
network printer from any computer on the LAN.

In some cases, you may end up loading the install disk on your computer, while
in others the Add A Printer wizard will automatically detect, and download
drivers. This will vary according to how the Canon drivers are designed.
