Sharing a printer

Ok, i know you've probably answered a thousand questions similar to this but
bear with me.

Heres the situation:

I have the main laptop computer in kitchen connected via ethernet to a
router which in turn is connected to a Broadband modem. A HP 7350 is
connected via USB to the laptop.

I have a desktop computer in my own room accessing the broadband through a
wireless PC network card installed. (i know what you're thinking, why not the
other way round)

Q: do i have to set up a Home network between the two computers in order to
share the printer or can i share it as the network is set up now?

Since both can access the Internet, I assume TCP/IP is already installed and
working. Assuming the same router is used for the wired and wireless computer,
it should be simple. Enable File & Printer Sharing on the computers. In the
printer tab on the installed printer, check the "Share this Printer" box. Then
add a printer to the desktop computer, pointing it to the shared printer on the
laptop.

Your right in thinking TCP/IP is up and running, the router is sending
broadband to both computers, and i have enabled sharing on the installed
printer, even messed with the firewalls 'exceptions' to include file and
printers.

Thus the problem:

When i add the printer, i select network printer, then browse for a printer.

The printer doesn't appear in the 'shared printer' box.

This is driving me nuts
