Hi

I'm hoping someone can help me here....

Why is there a difference in the interface used for sharing local folders on
a WinXP Pro machine depending on whether it is a member of a Workgroup or a
domain?

I prefer the domain model but on my home machine which is not a domain
member I get a different appearance....is there a way to configure it so I
see the "other" way? The user interface changes when the computer is joined
to the domain and changes back when it is removed so the software
configuration is changed slighty.

I'm curious to know where this is set...is it a registry setting or a GPO?

TIA
KIWI

Folder options > View > Use Simple Folder Sharing (Recommended)

Remove the check mark and voila....on a non domain member I think you can
change it but on a domain member there must be a GPO setting that overides
the local setting.

If the Windows XP Professional computer is part of a Windows domain rather
than a Windows workgroup, this process for enabling or disabling Simple File
Sharing has no effort. Simple File Sharing always remains disabled for
computers joined to domains.
