When you follow that link it's labeled as a "demo" version. That's not
the same as "shareware".
Possibly a demo version may be used for free (in exchange completely
needlessly being required to give up your postal address information!!),
but for shareware that's definitely not the case after the trial period.
I see no indication on the site that the company actually knows the
difference; there is no indication of a trial period being applicable
either. Mac users don't have any demo of shareware option at all (why
not?)
Yes, there's several free scanning applications available. But, it
depends on how you want to use the application : ( desktop publishing,
document imaging, etc...)
Is your scanner hardware twain compliant? if so, then there's many
choices of applications for you to pick from. Let me know if you would
like some examples...
