Sharepoint Migration, Need Home for backend

When i originally started this project we did some experimenting with linked
tables from our sharepoint site, we verified some functionality with the
linked tables now unfortunately we are too far along now to discover we cant
sinply migrate all of our tables to sharepoint as it doesnt enforce ref
integrity wich is ok but it also creates a new ID field and does not allow
multiple Unique indexes wich we may also get over..
so my question is where or how do we get a home for the back end of our
database.. we have a local network here at the office it is working on
however we can not access it from remote locations, we have a company
shared drive but it is VPN only so it locks up our local network.. is a
server expensive.. is there a fairly safe way to get access to this data from
the web??

Thanks
Barry

You should consider Windows Terminal Server. If you already have a
file server, setting it up as a Terminal Server involves little more
than buying and installing the Client Access Licenses for the users.
With a VPN, you're golden, as remote users would connect to the VPN,
then run the Remote Desktop Client to start a Terminal Server
session and then run the Access app there.
