shared workbooks

I am having a problem with a shared workbook. I currently have an excel
spreadsheet that is open to be shared. A new file is created every day. The
file is viewed and edited by multiple people daily. Currently the file will
show locked by an individual. Each file is lock by a different person. I
have one file, in my user name, locked that I can not access.

A couple of messages below this one I wrote:

Let me start with a warning: Don't share spreadsheets. I see many issues like
yours coming by: crashing of Excel, loss of data, corruption of files. All due
to using the sharing option.

Excel just isn't a multi-user environment.

There is a number of things you might try:

- weed out your temp folder
- restart your computer
- have IT dept restart the server that holds the file
