Shared Printer & Standby Mode Question

Hello all. I have a PC running Windows XP (SP2) that has a shared
printer (USB) hooked up to it. I have this computer on all the time
but have it go into standby mode. I also have a laptop running on the
same home network (wireless).

If the computer is not in standby mode I can print to the shared
printer just fine. However, if it is in standby mode the document does
not get printed until I manually take the machine out of standby mode.

According to this document:

http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/archive/winpowmgmt.mspx

"The user can wake the PC and begin work immediatelyeven waking another
PC on the network if needed. A PC that serves as the Internet
Connection Sharing host or that hosts a shared printer can remain in a
silent sleep state, but be instantly available if another PC needs the
Internet connection or the printer."

So... why isn't it working? I must have something set up improperly.

I can bring the computer out of standby by pointing a web browser at it
from the laptop, or using Remote Desktop. I think I have the network
device set up correctly, it's just the printing that doesn't wake it
up. Although I would think the print request would go through the
ethernet adapter and trigger the machine to wake. But I'm no expert on
this stuff.

Any ideas or things to try?

Not sure if it matters, but the laptop is a Mac (one of the new
Intel-based ones running OS X 10.4.7 Tiger).

Thanks!

Carl
