Hi All,

I have an XP pro machine I use as a server (file store and IIS web server
running cold fusion). It is in a workgroup called workgroup. One logical
drive is called users. On it are folders for each of the members of my
family, and a couple of shared folders.

Each of the family members use Windows Vista Ultimate.

The folders, when I use explorer, all have the same name.

ie. When created they were Corey, Peyton, Trent, Phillip, Tanya, Share and
Media Center. When I look at them now they are all called Corey, except for
the 'share' folder.

I've goodled this off and on for some time but as it hasn't affected
operations (at least as far as I can tell), I haven't been too worried about
it. But it's starting to get on my nerves.

Any one know why this happens and/or how to fix it?

thanks
Tanya

Go to the Vista groups. This is an XP group.

Twayne,

Thanks for not reading the post properly! What a disappointing response!
The problem is on an XP machine running Windows XP professional with service
pack 3. The sharing is with XP sharing.
The only mention I made of vista was that the clients are running Vista.

Let me try again.

I have an XP machine running as a file server. I have turned off simple file
sharing and set up permissions for each member of my family.

The XP machine is used as a file store and an IIS web server, with Cold
fusion serving some basic pages.

One of the logical drives is a user drive, in which there are folders for
each member of the family, plus a couple shared folders.
Each user folder is set up so only they can access it, plus the server
administrator.

The problem is once set up, each of the folder names, as displayed in
explorer, are the same.

The folders are Corey, Peyton, Trent, Phillip, Tanya, share and media
centre. At present they all show as Corey (except share), when I'm viewing
them from the XP machine.

Forget that I even mentioned that the connecting clients are Vista.

thanks
