Shared Folders Question

I got a new computer with XP Pro and set up a User Acc't. I installed some
programs, but couldn't install some programs except by going to the
Administrator Acc't.

I went into Administrator and installed those programs.

The problem was, I could not access data for the programs I installed as
User when logged in as the Administrator. I couldn't access data for the
programs I installed as Administrator when logged in as the User.

So, I moved all data to Shared Documents. I now have three 'My Documents'
folders:User, All Users (Shared), and my name (administrator) for data files.

I would like to just use the Administrator Acc't and access all the data
from All Users documents if possible.

My question: Can I delete the User Documents or will that will make them
disappear in the Shared Documents?

Let's see if I have this right:
1) you installed software as Administrator
2) user1 could not access this software
3) you moved the "my documents" folder contents for Administrator and User1
into "my documents" in the "all users" profile

not best practice:)

If you need to install software as an administrator but plan to use a normal
account, you can make the normal account (user1) an administrator for the
install, or utilize the runas command to install
(http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb490994.aspx)

If you want all users to access just one specified folder for their "my
documents":
Create a folder outside of "c:\documents and settings.
c:\files; c:\mystuff; etc...
Then logon, as each user and change the location of the "my documents"
folder for that user to "c:\files" or whatever location you have chosen.

To determine if you can delet the user documents, verify where they are
located, that is what will be deleted. If they are within the All Users
folder then yes.
