Shared file doesn't share

We have a shared file that now gives us a message that someone else is in
the file and do we want to open as read only. Anybody know what might cause
this?
 
Well... YOu can set the file to read-only by right clicking on the file and choose the properties dialog box to avoi
getting this error message. THis will prevent you from modifying the file
