Share subfolders in outlook...

R

Raymond

Help,

I want to share view access to a particular subfolders in my Inbox without
sharing permissions to the Inbox.

When the assigned user tries to access the subfolder they only have the
Inbox for email selection criteria in the "Open Other User's Folder"
dialogue box...

What am I missing here...?

TIA,

Raymond

You must grant at least Folder Visible access to your mailbox and Inbox and
then whatever permission to the subfolder you want the other to have.

Once permissions are granted, the easiest way to have them get to that
subfolder is to send them a shortcut to it. To create the shortcut do a
right-click drag of the subfolder to your desktop, or other handy folder,
and select the Copy option.

The other way for others to get to that folder is to add your mailbox to
their folder lists.

Thank you for your help! I have now provided appropriate access.

I have not determined if allowing Folder Visible access at the Outlook
account level allows permissions to be assigned to subsequent sub folders,
or if Folder Visible access needs to be set at each level of the inbox
structure...if you follow that...

Anyway, Thnak sAgain!

Each folder in the hierarchy leading to the subfolder needs Folder Visible permission. You might find it easiest to keep such shared subfolders in their own Shared Folders top-level folder in your mailbox.
