Share security - Permissions

We are currently setting up a new file server cluster in our organization.
One of the main purposes is for shared directories. Planned layout is
"servername\sharename\dept share". There could be a hundred folders for
different departments under the share and we want to map a drive for the
users to "servername\sharename". Groups are setup with the rights for each
"dept share". The problem is we don't want the rest of the folders to be
visible if the user doesn't have access to it.

Is this possible?

Is your server 2003? Then you can use Access based Enumeration?
