Share level security vs. Directory level security

I have a W2K server that I want to limit the directories
users can see via the share to only those that they
have 'read' rights to. But when they access through the
share they can see all the directories and of course when
they click on one they do not have directory level rights
to it reports 'Access Denied'. Can I not allow them to see
the directories themselves? In other words, can a share
level access limit the view of directories under the
share? Or what is the best way to accomplish this?
